Overview
A planner's primary obligation is to serve the public interest. At GREENPLAN, we carry out this principal by helping to create livable communities through a respect for cultural traditions and conservation of the natural world. We emphasize protection of open space and planning for neighborhoods where jobs, shopping, and recreation can all be within walking distance. The challenge is finding innovative ways to balance contemporary needs while accommodating civic cohesion and environmental conservation.

The firm is directed by J. Theodore Fink, AICP, who has been assisting public, private, and nonprofit agencies for the past 30 years. Michele Robinson Greig, Ph.D. is a community planner and public participation specialist. Mary Ann Johnson is a regional planner that specializes in smart growth and is skilled in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Karen Schneller-McDonald is a natural resources planner and environmental specialist. Both Mr. Fink and Ms. Greig have been trained under the Pace University Land Use Law Center's Community Leadership Alliance (CLA) Program. The CLA program deals with land use law, conflict resolution and community decision-making to accomplish sustainable community development. Other professionals are available to meet project needs in the areas of cultural resources, housing, socio-economics, hydrogeology, and transportation planning.

GREENPLAN is successful because we emphasize consensus building, pay close attention to detail, and use our knowledge to provide competent planning services in line with client needs. We are committed to sustainable development that protects quality of life and provides economic opportunities. Communities can prosper when fiscal health, environmental assets, and livability are integrated into the planning process. We seek clients who share our goals..
